Tough to Tender

I adore this set, it’s one of my favourites to date. The tenderness of Elise against the rough docking bay and train is a positively delectable contrast in my opinion. After my most recent shoot with her baby sister Ava, we had to have some big girl time and focus the lens on Elise’s beauty for a while! They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I don’t think there’s any question, she is absolutely gorgeous. I know her mom will be choosing one of these photos for a Photo Art Canvas to hang over Elise’s new toddler bed.

Country Rustic Scarborough?…

These two beauties are my step-sisters girls, great models! This session started off inside where it was nice and warm but I knew that I had to head outdoors because when I pulled up into the driveway I saw the beautiful tall grass and had to use it as a backdrop. It worked really well but it wasn’t until Keisha and Makaela suggested we go to the backyard that I found the goldmine of textures and gritty nooks and crannies that served up a wealth of interesting photos. How perfect is the mattress leaning up against the old stained glass window with the rustic shed exterior walls? The neighbours green shed on the other side of the link wired fence was just as appealing, agreed it’s not for everyone, but this is the kind of stuff that really gets me INSPIRED! The camera goes click click click. And who knew all this existed on a suburban street in the Scarborough Bluffs.

There are so many great places like this in Kitchener, being such an old and historic city. Even my house has a lot of intrigue, old charm and character – built in 1885. I can’t wait until the snow melts and the trees start to sprout buds so I can head outdoors with ideas a’ brewing…

Near and Dear

This beauty is the perfect sweetheart with sass, a girl after my own heart. I’ve watched her grow from the moment she came into the world, from admired baby to engaging toddler.

We didn’t have the white snow covered ground I was hoping for to contrast the red wagon, but we made due with our lovely Toronto drab winter. I do love how this set turned out but with no plans on giving up my original idea… I’ll be using Elise as a model again in hopes to catch the scene I had in mind.  That’s the beauty of lighting though, when in doubt – head indoors! Never underestimate the power of a simplified background with a colourful handknit blanket (made by her favourite “auntie” Alicia).

My fave from this shoot is the tutu set of three images. I love the soft colour palatte and how Elise is enthralled in the moment.

Designer Labels and Diapers?

As their moms push their matching Bugaboo’s through the mall, carrying their Petunia Pickle Bottoms and emptying their Coach wallets on more cute clothes from Baby Gap, Em and Chase enjoy an afternoon nap before heading back home for playtime. Sharing secrets already, these two are too cute for words as we relish every moment from the sidelines!
